MEMORIALS AND FUNERALS

So, my Uncle Johnny died last month of a sudden heart attack in his sleep. He was my dad’s only brother. I looked up to him in many ways. He was more than an uncle to me, he was a big brother to me. I feel like he has always been there in my life and is one of the main reasons why I joined the Army and requested the 101st Airborne (AASLT) Division. We are having his memorial ceremony on Saturday the 19th, and I have been asked by my Aunt to say a few words over the ceremony and to present his flag to my cousin. I am very honored to be asked to undertake such a task, however it has not been easy. See Uncle Johnny was not only an uncle and a big brother figure in my life he was also a brother-in-arms. He was deployed during Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He is the only other person in my family, that I know of, that has experienced ground combat as I did. This puts us in a unique relationship. We were able to talk to each other about things that so many others have no ability to understand or talk about. He was cremated so we are going to have somewhat of a different type of service for him, as he wanted. We are still going to do a 21-gun salute and have TAPS played, as he deserves it and we believe he would have wanted it. I just hope that I do him justice and come up with the right words to say to remember someone who signed on the dotted line and meant so much to so many.

The world we live in

The world we live in today is crazy, scary, violent, and UNSECURED! My time in combat taught me these 4 life lessons, being a husband and a dad cemented them into my every waking moment. If this is the case why don’t we as a country secure our boarder? Oh, yeah I forgot it is in-humane to keep people out of our country, at least that is what the liberals would have you believe. But they are the same people that live in houses and communities surrounded by walls, and armed security. As a society we lock our doors on our houses, we lock our cars, why should our countries boarder be any different? Secure the boarder and have everyone come into the country legally through the proper channels. What do we do with the illegals that are already here you ask? Send them back home, that simple they are criminals and should not be here.

New Year

Well, 2019 is off to a running start. I hope everyone’s New Year went well, and you all have big plans for the upcoming year. My plans are fairly simple. First I want to spend time with my family, get some good hunting done, and enjoy my wife and I’s vacation/ cruise in June! Personally I want to lose about 20 lbs, and get my blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). I started BJJ in March of 2018 and feel like I am progressing fairly well, however with the Holidays I took some time off. Tomorrow the 7th is my first day back in some time so I am sure it will be a slight struggle, but I am up for it. I hope everyone has a good start to the year and as always more to follow.

CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas all,

Yes, I said Merry Christmas. I am a Christian therefore I celebrate Christmas. If you celebrate something else then so be it, Merry what ever you celebrate! Christmas at my house was amazing. Hell, any Christmas I get to spend at home is amazing, let’s just be honest. After spending 2 Christmas’s in the Desert of Iraq I appreciate any time spent with family especially holidays. I hope that everyone had a great time spending time with family and friends. I will be more diligent about posting so don’t quit on me folks. Life has been pretty stupid crazy lately.

Holidays

Well folks it’s that time of year again. The holidays, or as I like to still call them, Thanksgiving and Christmas! I understand that it might make things easier to tell someone happy holidays, instead of happy Thanksgiving or Merry Christmas, but we still tell people Happy Veterans Day, Happy New Year, Happy Independence Day, why do we change it for Thanksgiving and exponentially Christmas?? Oh yeah, that’s right we wouldn’t want to upset some soft skinned-liberal-snowflake by forcing our Christian Religion on them by say Merry Christmas now would we! I say, I couldn’t care less what a millennial feels when I say something to them. I find it interesting that our society continues to try and take Christianity out of any and everything they can, but wants to bend over backwards to “integrate” any and all other religions. Now, don’t get me wrong. I believe you should be free to practice whichever religion that you want, but you should not be allowed to try and minimize a religion that has not only been in the country for a long time, but was one of the founding principles of the country. In short MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

So Your a Dispatcher

Why yes, yes, I am a dispatcher. I work for my local police department as a 9-1-1 Operator and Dispatcher. I chose to do this job to take care of the folks that respond to calls in my city. I enjoy my job greatly, however it is very frustrating and taxing. It is not physically demanding at all, as I sit on my butt all day and use a key board, however it is emotionally and mentally draining. See I am going to tell you what the media and society does not. See I feel like the ordinary citizen in our great county does not know what we do all day at work. Hell, even our government classifies us a administrative and secretarial workers!! I am here to tell you that could not be more wrong!! Yes, we do A LOT of paperwork, but that is just one aspect of this multifaceted job. I began my journey in 2016 as what our Chief calls an Emergency Communications Specialist. I happen to agree with this title completely. We do not just answer a phone and transfer a call. Our department works with 2 Dispatchers on shift at a time each of which is responsible for 7 computer monitors, and 3 sets of camera screens that show roughly 50 camera angles around our city. We are certified to use confidential government programs as well as take emergency and non emergency calls. See when my phone rings at work the person on the other end is very often having one of the worst days of their lives. It is my job to calm them down, gain information about the incident and relay that to the correct responding officers, or firemen in real time. All of this is completed simultaneously with ensuring that all other calls that are going on are being taken care of and that all other officers, and firemen are safe. Just imagine being 1 of only 2 people for an 8-12 hour period that answers all phone calls to the police department in a city that has over 40,000 people in it! You can imagine it gets rather busy and hectic at times. This is not to mention keeping up with all radio traffic that the officers have as well as the all important paperwork aspect of the job as well.

What I am trying to say here is simple I LOVE MY JOB, however it does not get the recognition or credit that it deserves. Personally my officers are awesome and do show their appreciation for us and for that I am thankful. The general public needs to be educated on what law enforcement communications workers go through and do for them on a daily basis. So if you are reading this and not in the law enforcement family educate yourself on what those hidden people that you never see but talk to when you call for help do and go through and maybe thank them in some way. Believe me they miss just as many events and holidays with their families as the Police Officers and Firefighters that they work with do.

The Journey Begins

Welcome to the beginning!

Well, at least it is the beginning of this journey. I had a Blog about a year or so ago, but due to circumstances it was taken down. So yes, this is a new beginning.

My name is Jimmy, and I am glad that you have decided to spend some time looking at my site. Whether you were told about this site by myself, a family member, a friend, or you stumbled across it I am glad you are here. This site will be primarily about my life experiences, my thoughts, rants, and other topics that may pop into my head. This WILL NOT be a G-Rated site, but WILL NOT be a R-Rated site either, so consider yourself warned! I hope you stick around and continue this journey with me.
